On Thursday, Ash Barty said to AAP, “No I haven’t spoken to Guy Forget(Roland Garros Tournament Director) but I’m happy to play the tournament whenever it is scheduled”

“I hope I get the chance to defend my title in September- any opportunity to compete is something I’ll grab with both hands.”

“There are more important things going on in the world right now, though, and I will do whatever helps keep us all safe and healthy.”

“Gutted to be leaving Indian Wells and the US early but staying safe and healthy always comes first. Thanks to all the fans for your support, hope to be back out there soon!”

Earlier, French Tennis Federation announced the 2020 edition of Roland
Garros will be held in September in place of May as a consequence of the Coronavirus epidemic.

Notably, before this announcement the RG Tournament Director Guy Forget talked to Men’s singles defending champion Rafael Nadal, who is called King of Clay.

“We had Rafa on the phone we tried to reach other players, said the president of the FFT during a press conference. It was Guy who had Rafa. His feeling is that it is a good decision that keeps clay on the calendar. “
