World No.1 Novak Djokovic showed his generous nature once again via helping his fellow player’s training. Having only a few days ahead of the new season 2021, tennis professionals have begun preparation all around the world.
Booking a court and all other expenses for training might not be affordable for all lower-ranked players during this time of crises.
However, 17-time Grand Slam champion has allocated three tennis courts, a weight room, physiotherapists, and stringers for fifteen players practice in his tennis centre, Belgrade.
Ultimately, the 33-years-old even pays for food and accommodation fees till the end of the offseason.
“Novak Did An Incredible Thing For Our Country”: Petar Popovic
Bosnia’s No.1 Damir Džumhur and his Serbian coach Petar Popovic invited to Belgrade ahead of the offseason training.
The 28-years-old Bosnian has recently started pre-season preparation along with his coach at Novak Djokovic tennis academy.
In a recent interview, coach Popovic explained, “In winter, the courts are very expensive here, especially for a 700th, 800th or 1000th player in the world.”
The name of the players arrived on the first fleet: Filip Krajinovic (31st ATP singles), Laslo Djere (57th), Danilo Petrovic (141st), Viktor Troicki (201st), Marko Tepavac (449th), Boris Butulija (1325th), Hamad Medjedovic (1348th) and Nikola Cacic (57th in Doubles).
Serbian coach also had all appreciation for his countryman, the 38-years-old expressed, “There will also be a few girls including Olga Danilovic (183rd), in total about fifteen players. Novak did an incredible thing for our country, we needed that, especially the young players.“
“It is an exceptional help. I don’t see other players who have done this for their country’s tennis. He doesn’t brag about it. He has shown that he is really tall and that he thinks of others.”, Petar concluded.
