The debutant and No.1 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas powered past Benoit Paire into the second round at the Acapulco Open 2021. The Greek will now lock horns with one of the fastest servers in the men’s game John Isner for a quarterfinal spot.
After leading the French tricky shot specialist 2-1 in their head-to-head series, Tsitsipas said, “I didn’t know what to expect from Benoit today.” He further added, “I think it’s kind of tricky playing a tournament you haven’t played before.”
“The Crowd Brought All The Energy,” says Tsitsipas
The 2019 ATP Finals champion also expressed that he felt a highly responsible person during his first clash in Acapulco. And he enjoyed applause from the crowd.
“I felt very responsible and very truthful to the way I was playing and the way I was fighting, so that was nice to see. The crowd brought all the energy. They backed me up; they supported me throughout the entire match. That is always important when you’re a newcomer into tournaments. That was something that felt great playing that matches,” Tsitsipas added.
“John Isner Is A Guy That Serves Really Well,” says Stefanos Tsitsipas
Former World No.8 from the United States is considered one of the best servers in the ATP Tour.

When speaking about his next round opponent John Isner, Greek said, “He’s a guy that serves really well, so that’s going to be the biggest element and the one thing that I’ll really have to resolve during that match.”
Tsitsipas continued, “I really hope I can play some good matches in Acapulco and get some love from the fans. It is going to be a tough one, that’s for sure.”
