At the age of 17, Carlos Alcaraz holds several records under his name and is considered one of the best Nextgen players in men’s tennis circuit. However, the Spanish rising star has now expressed his admiration for his idol none other than 20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal.
At the Australian Open 2021 qualifiers, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Filip Horansky, Evgeny Karlovskiy, and Hugo Dellien in a row. As a result, Spanish youngster has qualified for Grand Slam main draw for the first time.
“Nadal Motivates Everyone and Never Surrenders”, says NextGen
Alcaraz has now been under quarantine ahead of the Down Under summer tennis series in Melbourne and reading Rafael Nadal’s biography during his leisure time.
On the other hand, the 34-years-old Nadal is a well-known example of never giving up attitude, approaching wins and losses in the same manner, never making excuses, always living in the present and especially humility.
“Rafa is my idol. His hunger, his attitude. It doesn’t matter if he plays a first match or a final; his concentration level is the same. He wants to win every match. His mentality is an example for anyone, tennis player or any person. He motivates everyone, never surrenders,” the former World No.136 expressed his admiration for the 13 times Roland Garros champion.
“Main Goal For 2021 Is To End The Season In The Top Fifty”, says Carlos Alcaraz
Spaniard turned professional in 2018. Since then, Carlos has seen tremendous changes in his ranking, and he is now 145th perch in the world. However, Alcaraz has revealed his principal intention for the new season.
“The main goal for 2021 is to end the season in the top fifty. I would also like to play at the Masters in Madrid and the tournament in Barcelona,” Carlos concluded.
