Fans worldwide can’t wait to see Roger Federer ’s comeback at the Qatar Open 2021, which begins on 8th March. Meanwhile, the 20-time Grand Slam Champion sent a surprise message to his fans from the airport before departing to the tournament venue, Doha.

Swiss Maestro will appear in his first ATP event after nearly 13 months of hiatus. Federer played his last match at the 2020 Australian Open, where he lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets before the final. Afterwards, he underwent two right knee surgeries.

“It’s been a year since my last travel to any event, and I’m very excited,” Federer stated before boarding into the capital of Qatar.

“This is the moment where I could maybe thank all the people involved who made this possible. It’s been a long and hard road. I know I’m not at the finish line yet, but it’s good,” he added.
