The 20-time Grand Slam winner concluded his 2020 season with a just semifinal appearance at the Australian Open. Swiss is now on the rehabilitation leave.
However, before the start of the 2020 season, Federer was questioned, “If you could predict one player to have a breakout season in 2020?” in a tennis tv interview.
The 39-years-old replied, “I say that Rublev is going to do something special.”

After completed a successful season in his career with ATP Finals appearance, the 23-years-old Russian revealed exciting facts in a recent conversation with Sport24.
Speaking about Roger’s colossal honour, Andrey Rublev said, “It’s incredibly nice when a legend like Federer says things like that. Then I realized that it was a little unrealistic.”
World No.8 continued, “There were many younger guys who stood in front of me. I finished last year 22nd in the world, and there were at least two or three guys younger and higher in the rankings. Two or three more were a little older. Behind me, there were many younger guys and peers who play very cool.”

Taking lessons from the 2020 season, Rublev said, “I understood that the competition was unrealistically strong. Anyone could play cool, win tournaments. There would not be enough seats for all.”
He added, “I understood that I needed to work hard and improve a lot. In the end, it turned out that this is my best season. Everything went well.”
