World number one Novak Djokovic starts his French Open with a really dominant start. Additionally, this was necessary for the Serbian after an early disqualification from the US Open.

Coming into the Grand Slam after winning the Italian Open 2020, Novak Djokovic would like to continue the form and win another title, making his Grand Slam titles count to 18.

He easily defeated Mikael Ymer by securing the win by 6-0, 6-2, 6-3. Moreover, after the match, Ymer said, “It felt like when a snake kills its prey.” In addition to this, Ymer expressed, “I had chances to rally but then I got suffocated.”

While Djokovic was happy with the win, however, the Serbian as usual was stressing on the very fact that there is still a lot to do. Djokovic said, “My ambition is to fight for the title here.”

Djokovic explained, “It is just the start of the tournament. I just want to play one match at a time.”

Additionally, Djokovic is clearly happy to return to Paris for the tournament. He said, “It is always a pleasure to return to Paris on Phillippe Chatrier, this important court.”

“I Remain Motivated To Win The Title”- Novak Djokovic

The 17 times Grand Slam winner also expressed his opinions on the event, which began late due to the COVID-19 pandemic. French Open, which usually happens during the hot months of May and June, is taking place now this year. However, the Serbian is determined to win the title.

He said, “The atmosphere is a little different this time with few fans but I remain motivated to win the title.”

With Daniil Medvedev already out of the competition, Djokovic’s chances of winning have already increased. Besides, Medvedev was seeded just next to Djokovic in his half of the draw.

Novak, in the second-round match, will be facing the Lithuanian tennis player, Ricardas Berankis. Djokovic would like to win this match easily as well and move ahead in the tournament.
