Alexander Zverev has been in good form since season started. And while German reached the semifinal at the Australian Open, he played his first Grand Slam final at the US Open. Follows by, Alex won back-to-back titles at his back yard, Cologne. And also he played a tight three-set final against Daniil Medvedev at the Rolex Paris Masters last week.
However, the former world number three will now play the ATP Finals, where he won a title in 2018. Zverev has been handed in a tough draw with World No.01 Novak Djokovic, Paris-Bercy title winner Daniil Medvedev and this season’s stunning performer Diego Schwartzman.
Speaking about Novak Djokovic ahead of O2 event, Zverev said, “Novak is a great player no matter where you play him. He’s tough to beat.” Even though German and Serbian met twice at London Masters, they won once each other.
The 23-years-old added, “He’s going to be difficult. Zverev also said Djokovic is the favourite in his group and everyone will look forward to playing him. Besides, he continued, “You have to play your best to have a chance against him.”
“London Is A Place Where We Love The Atmosphere”: Alexander Zverev
Alex is now competing fourth time in the ATP Finals, but this time the environment would be different from the rest of the years. The event will take place without spectators due to COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the event moves towards Turin, Italy next year.
Zverev also expressed his love for the British capital. He said “It’s a little bit upsetting, of course. London is a place where we love the atmosphere. We love the stadium and everything.”
Speaking about his last appearance at London ATP finals, Zverev expressed, “It’s going to be difficult, it’s going to be different, but I’m still looking forward to playing in this beautiful stadium for the last time at the ATP Finals. It’s still going to be special.”
