Serena Williams has hinted to stay at the side of Novak Djokovic in his idea of forming a new players’ association. While other great players like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer and many others are against this breakaway, Serena Williams has suggested standing with Djokovic in this.
However, Serena has also pointed out that although she is with Djokovic, this is not the right time to do the same.
Besides, Nadal and Federer, Murray, and Dan Evans have also expressed their views against the formation of a new association. Djokovic earlier resigned from the ATP only to trying to form a new association. However, his idea has been questioned for not including women in this, as well as for the wrong timing.
“I Can’t Really Have An Opinion Unless I Understand More Deeply”- Serena Williams
But Serena thinks of this step as something she would love to know more about. She said, “I would be really interested to learn more about what everything is about because I feel like I can’t really have an opinion unless I understand more deeply. I’m obviously always Team Djokovic. But at the same time, I’ve been on the WTA Tour for 30 years. And I know a lot of stuff that’s happening there.”
Besides, she also said, “I would like to… yeah, I can’t really comment on that. I do feel he (Novak Djokovic) has some very strong opinions that are often true. Yeah, I would just have to wait.”
Serena said all of this after her first-round win at the Flushing Meadows when she was asked to express her views on this topic.
Additionally, Serena Williams is now playing in the US Open in New York. Besides, Djokovic, Evans, and Murray are too playing in the tournament. However, Nadal and Federer are absent from the same.
