World No.01 Novak Djokovic paved a way to enter Western & Southern Open 2020 semi-finals after defeating German player Jan-Lennard Struff. Djokovic will go to play against the world no.12 Roberto Bautista Agut in the last four on Friday.
Moreover, the Spaniard Bautista Agut had beaten the defending champion Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals. Undoubtedly the Spaniard is a great threat to Djokovic to win the ATP 1000 masters title in the tennis return.
“He’s also very strong, He’s resilient”- Novak Djokovic Hails Roberto Bautista Agut
Djokovic is also not expecting an easy win against the world no.12 and he predicted the match would be rough and tough. “First of all, his style of play is just so consistent,” Djokovic said about Bautista Agut. He also added, “He doesn’t give away much at all. He doesn’t make too many unforced errors.”
Former top ten player Bautista Agut has won nine ATP singles titles and reached semi-finals in 2019 Wimbledon.
Besides, He won the matches at the 2016 Shanghai Masters, 2019 Qatar Open, and 2019 Miami Open against Djokovic. However, Serbian leads Spanish in head to head 9-3.
Djokovic said, “You can always expect him to play at that certain level. I mean, he doesn’t drop his level of tennis much at all on any surface. That’s why he’s probably one of the most underrated tennis players that we have in the last five years.”
Additionally, 17-times Grand Slam Champion added, “That’s what he does. He slows you down.”
Serbian praised his semi-finals opponent, “He kind of wears you down and tries to, in a way, if I can use that term, suffocate you on the court and just wait for his chances, and then he takes it.”
He also added “Mentally, he’s also very strong. He’s resilient. He’s just consistent all around. His win against an in-form Daniil Medvedev today was impressive.”
In conclusion, Djokovic said, “I’m sure it’s going to be a great challenge for both of us.”
