“I Cannot Always Think About Roger or Novak Djokovic”: Rafael Nadal on Grand Slam Race

While Rafael Nadal is just one Grand Slam title behind Federer’s record of 20, he isn’t obsessing over this very record. Although the Spaniard who has 19 Grand Slams titles to his name, wants to achieve his ambitions, he is not crushing over Federer’s record.

Nadal will be playing in the French Open and would like to win the tournament. Additionally, he already has 12 titles here and would like to get his hands into another one. If he wins the 13th here, he will be able to tie up with the Swiss legend’s record. However, it is not so much of importance to Nadal.

In a conversation with the press, he said, “When you ask me about Roger Federer’s record, I will always say the same. I made my entire career in my way and I will keep doing that.”

In addition to this, Nadal also said, “I am not obsessed with those 20 Major titles. I cannot always think about Roger or Novak Djokovic and our race for most of the Majors.”

“Would Love To Finish At 25 Slams, But That Is Unlikely To Happen”- Nadal

Besides, Nadal also pointed out on the volume of attention paid by the Journalists and audience on the “Big Three” rivalry and the number of Grand Slam titles won. He said, “I know journalists put a lot of attention on that. I would love to finish my career on 25 Majors. But that is unlikely to happen.”

Besides, Nadal also shared about his career. “I am going to fight and create chances. We will see when I will finish my career. I want to keep enjoying tennis and that is all”, he said.

Moreover, the 34-year old also said, “If I am playing on a high level, I am a contender for the Majors. If not, it is not possible to win it.”

Rafael Nadal played in the Italy Open 2020. Additionally, he returned to competitive tennis after 6 long months. The Spaniard was defeated in the quarter-final of the tournament. Hence, he would like to perform his best in the French Open and be a major contender for the trophy.
