Sofia Kenin made her first semifinal at Lyon Open 2020, France since her winning first grand slam title at the Australian Open in February 2020. 

The following save match point win at the round of 16 against the qualifier Jaqueline Cristian a couple of days before in Lyon. 21-years-old faced a similar challenge in the last eight as well. 

An American worked hard to overcome the Oceane Dodin of France 2-1(6-1, 7-65, 6-2). Nevertheless, the 23-years-old, French brave woman won 85 percent of the first serve points,13 aces and incredible comeback from 5-2 lead.

The World No.5 saved 67 percent of the breakpoints and 54 percent of total points of the match. However, Top seed Kenin took an hour 50 minutes to meet her last four maiden appearances in Lyon.

“It was still not perfect today,” but I definitely feel like I found my rhythm. I was playing well, dictating well,” Kenin said after the match.

“It was a bit of a strange match. I was up, and somehow managed to not close it out there, but overall, I think it was a good match. In addition, I played some good tennis, some good points, and I’m happy with the way that I found my rhythm after yesterday.” 

“I felt pretty good in the first round – still not 100 percent, but I still got the win – and I would say that today was my best game [here so far].”

Another big challenge waiting for Sofia Kenin

In the last four, Kenin will tackle her one of enemy Van Uytvanck of Belgium. They met three times in the past the head to head record(1-2) is favouring to 25-years-old Uytvanck.

2016, $50,000 Las Vegas, NV, The American lost the match in the final(6-3, 6-74, 2-6). Alison Van Uytvanck defeated Kenin in the second round of French Open 2017.

Although the recent meeting at Mallorca second round in 2018, the World No.5 beat the Belgian(2-6, 6-4, 6-4). Van Uytvanck ranked 62nd in the world on 02 March 2020.
