Rafael Nadal may have won 12 Grand Slam titles to his name at the Roland Garros, but things have changed for the Spaniard since last time. Additionally, all of these titles have come in May.

However, due to the pandemic, the tournament started during September and will continue till mid-October. Hence, this time it may not be easy for the King of Clay.

However, the Spaniard has still vowed to remain positive after an excellent first-round win. With an easy win by 6-4, 6-4, 6-2, Nadal will move forward positively in the next round. Although he is still looking good, Nadal admitted that “this time the Roland Garros is different for the previous years.”

Nadal said after the first-round win, “It is a very different Roland Garros. Of course, we play in the same place. But the conditions are completely different than any other Roland Garros that we played.”

“I Will Try My Best Every Single Day”- Nadal

He said, “But the only thing that I can do is just stay positive, do my job, try my best every single day.” Nadal also talked about fighting till the end and not losing his calmness. He said, “Even if the conditions are not the ideal ones, I will fight for my goals every single moment.”

Additionally, Rafael Nadal has the opportunity to equal Roger Federer’s record of 20 Grand Slam titles. With 19 Grand Slam titles already, he has the golden chance to tie with Federer at his favorite place.

Moreover, this time French Open also partnered with Wilson balls, breaking the long-time partnership with the Babolat balls, which has received criticism from players. Players have also complained of the balls being heavy and slow.

However, players, including Nadal, have not been too outspoken about the same. Hence, it will be quite a task for the 12-time champion at the red dirt to win the tournament.
