“I’ve Got Nothing To Lose”- Kyle Edmund Speaks Ahead of Novak Djokovic Clash at the US Open 2020

World No.01 Novak Djokovic has continued his unbeaten run(24-0) with a victory over Damir Dzumhur in the first round of the US Open. Serbian will play Britsh player Kyle Edmund in the round of 64 on Wednesday. However, Briton admitted he eagerly looks forward to facing Djokovic with a handful of past experiences.

Earlier 25-years-old Kyle Edmund defeated Alexander Bublik in his opening round match by a score of (2-6,7-5,7-5,6-0). While the former world number fourteen looking his second triumph against top seed Djokovic, besides, he feels it will not easy to overcome a top player in the world. 

The unseeded Kyle Edmund said, “It’s a match for me [where] I’ve got nothing to lose. I have the experience of beating him, but he has beaten me a bunch of times. He’s a top player and the type of player who is tough to break down.”

It will be the seventh meeting between them and also Djokovic leads Edmund in head to head 5-1. Moreover, former British number one defeated the Serbian at the 2018 ATP Masters 1000 Madrid. In the last meeting, Novak Djokovic defeated Kyle Edmund in the straight sets at the 2019 ATP Masters 1000 Paris last year.

World No.44 Kyle Edmund also explained how he is handling tough situations during the match, “It was a nice win in terms of the mentality. I play well when I’m expressing myself. When I start matches not in the right way I have to force that out of me. It was a good match to win. I could have fallen off and gone down two sets to love or two sets to one.”
