Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are still in the race for French Open Glory. Meanwhile, Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal’s coach, and former French Open winner, shared his firm belief that the new French Open conditions fit Novak Djokovic very well.
Mainly, pointing towards the challenging conditions at this year’s Roland Garros suits the Serbian player more than anyone else. In the search for glory, the two legends of tennis remain. And Moya thinks Djokovic is playing some awesome Roland Garros stuff, which is not easy to ignore.
During the French Open quarter-finals on Tuesday, Nadal smashed Jannik Sinner aside. He defeated his Italian opponent by 7-6, 6-4, 6-1. It was a real treat to watch him play so well.
With the exit of US Open 2020 champion Dominic Thiem, Rafael Nadal’s path to a record-equaling Grand Slam title earned a major boost. And while Diego Schwartzman’s challenge is still looming, the expectation of a Rafael Nadal-Novak Djokovic final at the 2020 French Open has definitely increased.
The Spaniard is now just two matches away from matching Roger Federer’s Grand Slam haul of 20 titles, having triumphed 12 times in the past at Roland Garros. Although, it is said Djokovic could thwart him, however.
“He(Novak) Played A Great Game Against Karen Khachanov”: Carlos Moya
In the last eight of the tournament on Wednesday, the 33-year-old has been in good form himself and goes up against Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta.
Talking to Eurosport in the latest interview after the showdown, Nadal’s coach Moya has believed that the current situations and conditions surrounding the tournament are suiting Djokovic more than his player Rafael Nadal.
He also highlighted how, without much hassle, Djokovic went through Karen Khachanov’s tough test. He said, “Novak is playing at a great level. At a great pace, Novak is playing. He played a great game against Karen Khachanov and solved it pretty well.”
Coach added, “He is a great player, and I think that it is the player who benefits most from all these conditions of this Roland Garros. Nole has a complicated match today with Pablo Carreno so little by little.”
