Rafael Nadal Ready for Clay Court Season and Starts Preparation with Stan Wawrinka in Rome

A few days ago World Number two Rafael Nadal confirmed his participation at the ATP Rome Masters via a video message. As a consequence, Spaniard arrived in Rome and started preparation to win his 10th Italian Open title. 

The 77th edition of the Rome International Tennis Championships will take place from 14th September to 21st September. However, It will be a special tournament for the Spanish tennis star as a reason he will go to end his long time tennis break there. Notably, 19-times Grand Slam winner has not played in the ATP tours since February 2020 due to pandemic. 

While Nadal has not ready to defend his US Open title due to health and other several concerns, he has ready to defend his titles at the European clay-courts. Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal has begun training together with Swiss tennis Stan Wawrinka who is already training on Campo Piterangeii.

Men Entry List Features In Rome Masters 2020

While Roger Federer will not play this year’s Rome International due to knee surgery, his rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have announced their participation on the same. 

Moreover, World No.03 and the ongoing US Open favorite Dominic Thiem, former champion Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitispas will also participate in this event. 

Additionally, Matteo Berrettini and Fabio Fognini will compete for the home tournament title. 

Anti-COVID-19 Measures at the 2020 Italian Open

This clay-court tournament will take place without spectators due to the ongoing pandemic. While the male player will be tested every four days since their arrival in Rome, the Woman player will be monitored by five days once according to WTA instructions. 

Besides, The men and women players will be accommodated in the two different facilities

While Rafael Nadal is the most title winner on the men’s side(9 titles), on the other hand, Chris Evert won five titles on the women’s side.
