Serena Is The Best So Far, Coco Gauff’s Going To Be A Superstar Says, Sue Barker

We often hear the news over the similarity between Former World Number One Serena Williams and Youngster Coco Gauff. Right now, 1976 Roland Garros Champion, Sue Barker opined that Coco Gauff has the potential to surpass her childhood tennis idol, Serena Willimas. 

As a 64-years-old Sue Barker of Great Britain won the French Open women’s singles title in 1976. She also reached semifinals at the Wimbledon and Australian Open in her tennis career.

Moreover, Brit retired from professional tennis in 1984. Former World No.03 is now one of the main sports presenters on the BBC. Notably, She is covering Wimbledon and A Question of Sport.

Recently, Sue Barker shared her view on Tennis Great Serena Williams and Rising star Coco Gauff. “She [Coco] has the ability to be the greatest player ever, even better than Serena and I never thought I’d say that Serena is without question the best so far.

Coco has all the attributes, physically, mentally, she has the game, she’s going to be a superstar, with the press she is so engaging, she has just got absolutely everything.” Barker said.

Coco Gauff came limelight after defeating Five-time Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams in the 2019 Championships first round. She also reached the fourth round in the 2019 Wimbledon and third at the US Open 2019. 

Besides, She defeated the defending champion Naomi Osaka in the 2020  Aussie Open. Consequently, American become the youngest player to defeat a top 5 player since Jennifer Capriati beat Gabriela Sabatini at the 1991 US Open.

“If she can start winning Grand Slams by 18 then who knows how many she could win. We’re seeing Serena desperately trying to equal Margaret Court’s record. Coco could outdo that and I never thought that would happen.”  Sue Barker concluded.

Serena Williams has won the 23 singles grand slam titles and has one short to equal Margaret Court record of all time(24 Grand Slam). Although, Williams holds the record of 23 the most by any players in the Open Era.
