Top-seeded Simona Halep reached the third round at the ongoing Rome tournament. Romanian defeated host Jasmine Paolini in the two sets in her opening round match on Wednesday. However, She admits it wasn’t an easy match after a win against a wild card entrant.
While World number two Simona Halep skipped this year’s US Open series, besides, She won her second WTA singles title on the season at the Prague Open 2020 last month.
Moreover, the 28-years-old Romanian will play at the French Open 2020, where she is a big favorite. Halep won her maiden Grand Slam title in 2018 and reached the finals in 2014 and 2017 on the same.

Halpe is now playing in the Italian Open 2020 ahead of Roland Garros. She also qualified for the round of 16 after a victory(6-3, 6-4) over World No.99 Jasmine Paolini. Even though Halep did not play her best tennis against a hundredth rank player, but She was satisfied with the way of ending the match.
After the match, Simona said, “It wasn’t an easy match, being the first in this tournament, it’s hard to be focused, so I was a little tense, the ball didn’t seem to leave my racket, but it was still good that I managed to finish in two sets and I earn.”
Additionally, Romanian added, “She is a player with a pretty solid game, the forehand shot was quite solid, but she also made quite a lot of mistakes compared to the lapel, but overall, it was a good match and I’m glad I’m in the next round.“
She, talking about her 10 consecutive victories, explained, “I didn’t keep track, but it sounds good, I hope I have won as many matches as possible. I don’t really take such things into account, but of course, my confidence is higher.”
In the round of 16, Halep will now play World No.25 Dayana Yastremska, who defeated Amanda Anisimova in three sets in the second round. It will be the first meet between the Romanian and Ukrainian in their WTA tour career.
