French Tennis professional Gilles Simon has had to face the ‘Big Three’ several times. He has been against Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic a total of 30 times. Having met them so often, Simon has a bit of knowledge about their style of play and skills on the court. The 35-year-old has always been involved in talk of the ‘big three,’ and he was this time too.
While talking on La Chaine L’Equipe, the Frenchman was heard discussing the big three yet again. He went on to name Djokovic as the strongest out of the three. According to him, the Serbian is a complete player and has the least number of flaws. Moreover, he thinks the world number one is the hardest of them to beat.
“The strongest is Novak Djokovic,” he said. “He’s stronger than the two others. To me, he’s the most complete player with the least weaknesses, and he will be the hardest to beat.” Simon added.
“Rafael Nadal Is Extremely Strong”: Gilles Simon
World No.58 was also talking high about the king of clay, Rafael Nadal. He finds him to be the best on the clay surface and the hardest one to defeat there. Moreover, he congratulated the world number two on what he recently achieved in the French Open and called it unreal.
Rafael Nadal gave Novak Djokovic one of his toughest defeats at the French Open finals this year. The Spaniard went on to lift his 13th title at Roland Garros, arguably one of the finest feats in sport.
“Rafael Nadal is extremely strong as well and extremely difficult to beat,” Simon added. “I think he is the strongest on clay, the biggest challenge on the surface, especially in Roland Garros. What he did was unreal.”, Said the French professional.
In the end, Simon praised Federer and his game. Having played Federer on nine occasions, he said that playing against him is stressful. But on the contrary, watching him play is a very pleasant sight.
“And Federer is the same. He is stressful to play against but very pleasant to watch.” Gilles concluded.
