World No.1 Novak Djokovic has eliminated from season-ending event while just a step away from Roger Federer to equal his record tally of six titles at the ATP Finals.
The 33-years-old is a five-time champion at the year-end tournament and had clinched four consecutive titles from 2012-2015.
In the 9th Semifinal appearance, Serbian tennis legend faced Dominic Thiem on Saturday. A knockout match started with high expectation and lasted two hours and 54 minutes at the O2.
The end of the battle,17-time Grand Slam winner, Djokovic lost to the US Open reigning Thiem in a narrow gap 5-7, 7(10)-6, 6(5)-7.
In a post-match interview, Serb said, “The difference was that when you hit full power, and everything goes in, it just goes in. When you hit full power, sometimes it goes out. So simple. He did everything right from 0/4 [in the third-set tie-break].”
And also, Djokovic showered praise on his opponent Dominic Thiem, Nole continued, “I have to put my hats down and say congratulations. I actually didn’t play bad any point after 4/0. I thought [in] every point, I was in it. And I did hit the ball, I was not pushing it, but he just smashed it, and he just played great.”
