“Very Fragile Inside”: Svetlana Kuznetsova Details About Her Relationship with Serena Williams

Serena Williams and Svetlana Kuznetsova are one of the oldest rivals in the WTA Tour. They faced each other in many crucial encounters so far. Nevertheless, the 35-years-old Muscovite recently revealed a relationship with Serena Williams. 

The Russian tennis ace has won 18 WTA singles title as of today. Having two Grand Slam titles on her name, Kuznetsova was ranked second in the world. 

In a recent conversation with Match TV, World No.36 Svetlana spoke about the 23 time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams. 

2004 US Open said, “I respect Serena for all her achievements. We had different periods of communication. All champions are legendary people, but with difficult personalities.”

Speaking about off-court relationship, Kuznetsova expressed, “Serena can walk past you and seem not to notice, or she can say hello and hug as if you are her best friend. It unsettles you a little at first. A couple of times we talked behind the court, went to discos.”

“She(Serena) Is Bulletproof”: Svetlana Kuznetsova

And also, Former World No.2 described Serena Williams on her perspective. Kuznetsova explained, “She is bulletproof, strong and sturdy on the court, and very fragile inside. She just covers herself with all this. It is clear that she is allowed more. I once said this in the press, after which the whole army of Serena’s fans fell upon me.”

Russian continued, “I thought that I had a conflict with her, and I do not like it, so the first one approached her in the locker room and said that my words were misinterpreted. The fact that she has permissiveness is normal. Leaders can have it because they are better than others.”

Svetlana Kuznetsova and Serena Williams have battled 13 times so far. Former World No.1 American leads the head-to-head 10-3.
