The Americans New hope Sofia Kenin secured the title of the Lyon Open. The first edition of the tournament finals, No.1 seed, Sofia Lenin beat the unseeded Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany by a score of 2-1(6-2, 4-6, 6-4). A tight match was completed in one hour and 49 minutes.

The brave German who ranked 136 in the world has provided tough competition to the world No.5 in the inaugural of Lyon Open 2020. In their first meeting, both of them saved 50 percent breakpoints. They kept only a little bit of margin in their service points.

21-year-old, after Australian Open 2020 the first Grand slam title win, Kenin failed to reach the quarterfinals in the Middle East. In Dubai duty-free tennis the first round Kenin lost the match against Elena Rybakina of Kazakh Who ranked No.17 in the world.

Consequently, The second round of Qatar Total Open, the sixth-seeded Sofia Kenin failed to claim a match against the unseeded Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine in straight sets.

Kenin had worked hard to overcome her opponent in the entire tournament away from a round of 32.

The reign of the Australian Open met Jaqueline Cristian of Romania in the round of 16. The home player Oceane Dodin in the last eight and Alison Van Uytvanck of Belgium in the semifinals.

However, The American conquered all the battles by saving the match points, straight forward lead and three tiebreakers.

Also, Top-seeded, who made 42 unforced errors and four aces against Friedsam in the finals and capture the fifth title in her career.

Kenin said “Each and every match needs longer work to compete against the opponent on the court. I would always like to play games which give me good results.

I feel happy to come and play in Lyon. It was a nice decision from my side. I needed to play adequate matches in upcoming tournaments at Indian Wells and Miami.”
