However, the new US Open champion Dominic Thiem explains how he was surprised by many congratulatory messages.
While Thiem is now playing French Open with full-body fitness, he has suffered mentally from the impact of the recently concluded US Open. Additionally, World number three admits he needs to keep himself away from tennis for a few weeks after the Paris major event.
Besides, Austrian explained in a recent press conference, “If it weren’t for Roland Garros, maybe I wouldn’t be here. Physically I’m fine, but mentally I haven’t completely disconnected from the US Open yet.”
Thiem continued, “Probably after Roland Garros, I will take some time and rest for a few weeks. I need to rest and train gently. My body is already noticing the many games that I carry on my back in the last few months.”

Thiem was happy when he received wishes from his teammates while he was double happy when his inbox was filled with WTA player’s greetings.
Recalling his US Open memories at Roland Garros, Thiem said, “Almost all the players sent me beautiful messages. Others congratulated me personally here. It means a lot to me to see that my teammates congratulate me on a great achievement. I also received a lot of messages from WTA players, something that surprised me a lot. It is incredible that they are also happy with my successes.”
Whereas Thiem is one of the favorites to win the French Open 2020 title, He will play Casper Ruud in the third round on Friday.
