Radmilo Armenulic, the former Serbian Davis Cup captain and coach of Goran Ivanisevic, has accused Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal of being vicious towards their tennis rival Novak Djokovic. Additionally, Goran is a part of Noval Djokovic’s team currently. Besides, Radmilo also said that the other two look to harm the Serbian’s reputation.
Additionally, Radmilo also expressed his opinion on the unfortunate incident of US Open 2020. Talking about Djokovic’s disqualification from the tournament and using this as an example to prove his theory, he said, “What happened at the US Open is a scandal.”
However, he also added, “I have also looked at dozens of worse cases for which players are not warned. Let alone punished.” In addition to this, he also talked about the role of the big players. He explained, “The involvement of big players in here make sure that Roger Federer stays first. So that Novak is not able to overtake him.”
“Novak Djokovic Is A Gentleman”- Radmilo
Moreover, Radmilo also said that even the sponsors have an integral part to play in this. And that their involvement cannot be denied.
Again mentioning the US Open disqualification, Radmilo said that none of the players came forward in his support. “It is telling me that none of Djokovic’s opponents reacted after the disqualification. No one even commented”, he said.
Talking about the Serbian, Radmilo believes that the world number one, Novak Djokovic is nothing less than a gentleman. Additionally, he also mentioned how Djokovic quickly apologized to the line-judge after the incident in New York.
Radmilo said, “Novak Djokovic is a gentleman. He immediately admitted guilt in order to calm his passions.” Moreover, he also mentioned that Djokovic has never criticized his tennis main rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Radmilo explained, “I have never heard him criticize Roger and Rafa in his statements. But they (Nadal and Federer) seem vicious towards him.”
The former coach continued, “The worst is when you chase records. Then you are too busy. Novak entered the finals with Rafa burdened. He started playing like never before. He shortened the points. He didn’t build them. That never happened to Djokovic. But nothing terrible. I think he will come back stronger. They disturb him in various ways. They fear that he will be the best in history.”
