After a comfortable straight-set(6-1, 6-3) victory against 32nd seed Russian, the second seed Romanian said, “I had tough matches, but I’m delighted that after the third one I feel much better, the game also and the body.”
“You know, the first week is like Pete Sampras used to say, it’s about surviving because you cannot win the Grand Slam in the first week,” Wimbledon reigning added.

However, now the two time Grand Slam winner will horn locks with Iga Swiatek for a quarterfinal spot on Sunday.
When speaking about her next round opponent, Simona Halep reminisced about her defeat at the 2020 French Open. Therein, the 29-years-old woman from Constanta was beaten by the eventual champion in the straight sets during the fourth round.
Halep continued, “It’s a big challenge because she crushed me at the French Open. So I have to do something better to play a better match against her. I’m confident. I’m here to do my best, and let’s see.”
