Coco Gauff has been exhibiting her best tennis skills since the beginning of this season. As a result, the 17-year-old has now reached the third and second consecutive semifinal in 2021.
Following a semifinal run at the Italian Open, Gauff is competing at the WTA 250 event in Parma ahead of the French Open 2021.
The No.3 seed American had a neck and neck match against Estonia veteran Kaia Kanepi in the opening round. Later on, she defeated fans favourite Camila Giorgi before reaching the fifth quarter-final this year in the Emilia-Romagna Open 2021.
To become the last-four in Parma, Coco Gauff faced No.5 seed Amanda Anisimova for the first time in her career. She took only an hour and 21-minute to power past her countrywoman in the straights(6-3, 6-3).
Gauff fired four aces and won nearly 73% first-serve points in the compatriot encounter on Italy’s red dirt. Subsequently, a teenager from Florida reserved her third semifinal spot this season. Early, Guaff played semifinal at the Adelaide International and the Italian Open.
Coco Gauff Sets Up Katerina Siniakova Semifinal Clash at Emilia-Romagna Open 2021
To reach the championship match place in Parma challenger, World No.30 Gauff will lock horns with World No.68 Katerina Siniakova. The 25-year-old from the Czech Republic advanced to the semifinal without dropping a single set as Coco.
The unseeded Siniakova upset two seeded players in the previous rounds. Most notably, she thrashed the No.1 seed and 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams in straight sets.
However, it will be the second time meeting between Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova. American leads the Czech 1-0 in their head-to-head series. At the 2020 Ostrava Open, Gauff bested Siniakova in straight sets(7-5, 6-4) in the Round of 32.
