French Open 2021: Coco Gauff vs Jennifer Brady Preview, Head-To-Head & Prediction

Coco Gauff

In the all-American showdown at the French Open 2021, Coco Gauff and Jennifer Brady will fight for a fourth-round place on the red dirt.

Coco Gauff vs Jennifer Brady: Preview

Gauff has been playing extraordinary since the beginning of the season. Significantly in the clay-court swing, the 17-year-old teenager claimed her second career title at the Emilia Romagna Open and reached the Italian Open semifinal and Volvo Car Open quarterfinal. She has a win-loss record of 14-3 on clay surface so far.

At the French Open, the No.24 seed advanced to the third round following straight-sets wins over Serbian qualifier Aleksandra Krunic(7-6, 6-4) and Chinese Wang Qiang(6-3, 7-6). Most notably, Gauff fantastically captured two-breaker sets in the last two matches.

Brady began the season with a fantastic maiden Grand Slam final run at the Australian Open. Since then, the 26-year-old has not shown any impressive performance so far. She managed to reach the Round of 16 at the Mutua Madrid Open and Round 32 at the Italian Open. She has won 5 out of 8 matches on the clay courts this year.

In Roland Garros, Jennifer Brady has reserved her third-round spot after ousting Latvian Anastasija Sevastova without dropping a set(6-3, 6-3) and host Fiona Ferro in the three sets(6-4, 2-6, 7-5).

Coco Gauff vs Jennifer Brady: Head-To-Head

Americans have faced each other once at the WTA Tour so far. Brady leads Gauff 1-0 in their head-to-head series. In the 2020 Lexington Top Seed Open, Jennifer defeated Coco in straight sets(6-2, 6-4) before reaching the championship match on the hard surface.

Coco Gauff vs Jennifer Brady: Prediction

It will be the first French Open third-round match for Gauff and Brady and the first battle on clay. Thus, both of them will undoubtedly force themselves to advance to the next round. But, Double faults make both contestants weak on the court in recent days. However, the in-form Coco Gauff is the favourite of this match.

Match Prediction: Coco Gauff to win in three tight sets.
