Barbora Krejcikova is a professional women’s tennis player from the Czech Republic. She was born on 18th December 1995 in Brno, a city in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. Righty reached a career-high ranking of World No.33 in singles on 31st May 2021 and World No.1 in doubles on 22nd October 2018.
Barbora Krejcikova’s Junior Career
Krejcikova’s mother and brother introduced tennis to her at the age of three. She was very passionate about racket sports from the beginning and grew up merely on a tennis wall. Later on, Barbora began playing tennis on the clay surface. Her first tennis coach was Antonin Ondra.
In the junior ITF career, the Czech had a win-loss record of 127-52 in singles and 126-38 in doubles and won 7 and 12 titles. She was ultimately ranked No.3 on 28th October 2013.
In the 2013 Grand Slam doubles events, Krejcikova and Ukrainian Oleksandra Korashvili reached the Australian Open final. Subsequently, Barbora and her countrywoman Katerina Siniakova captured titles at the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
And Krejcikova was a winner of the European championship under 18 years in singles and doubles in 2013.
Barbora Krejcikova’s WTA Career
Krejcikova made her WTA doubles main draw debut at the 2014 Gastein Ladies in Austria. The same year, she entered into the WTA singles main draw at the Coupe Banque Nationale in Canada as a qualifier.
In singles events, Krejcikova cruised into her first-ever WTA final at the 2017 Nuremberg Open in Germany as a qualifier. Afterwards, she stormed into the second final at the 2021 Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships.
Eventually, the Czech claimed her maiden title at the Strasbourg Open after defeating Romanian Sorana Cirstea in straight sets in the championship match. In the Grand Slam, she claimed her first-ever singles major title at the 2021 French Open and reached the 2nd round at the Australian Open.
In doubles events, Barbora captured her first WTA doubles title at the 2015 Coupe Banque Nationale in Canada with Belgian Mestach. Later on, she won titles at the 2018 French Open and 2018 Wimbledon. And in 2021, the Czech attained the championship match at the Australian Open.
Most notably, Barbora Krejcikova lifted the mixed doubles crown at the Australian Open in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
